CMS and Content Delivery
The University of Pennsylvania is one of the United States' most prestigious universities, known for its commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Its Graduate School of Education (GSE) website serves as a vital hub for students, faculty, and professionals, providing critical information and resources. Our team collaborated on a project to enhance the site's functionality, user interface, and content management, ensuring it met the institution's high standards for usability and design.
The primary goal of the project was to optimize the GSE website for both administrators and end users. By refining existing components and introducing new features, we aimed to enhance the digital presence of the Graduate School of Education, making it a more effective tool for communication and engagement.
A major focus of our work was the implementation of dynamic view pages and microsite functionality. We developed and integrated new paragraph types such as "Expert News" and "Issues" to improve content presentation. Additionally, we created custom themes for various content types, including "Microsite Homepage", "Microsite Content", and "Programs". These updates provided department-level microsites with greater flexibility to showcase events, announcements, and academic offerings.
User experience was a key aspect of the project. We revamped the "Main Navigation" menu logic to simplify navigation and improve usability. The addition of paragraph types like "Related Programs" offered users contextual filtering options, making it easier to explore relevant academic opportunities. Our updates to the "Search" pages ensured users could quickly find information, enhancing overall accessibility.
To ensure consistency and reusability across the site, we integrated versatile components like the "Full Width Promo Card", "Faculty List View", and "Program Application Requirements". These components streamlined the presentation of essential information while maintaining visual uniformity. We also resolved display and logic issues to ensure seamless functionality and a polished user experience.
Design updates played a pivotal role in modernizing the website. Significant improvements were made to the homepage, timeline, and faculty sections. Enhanced paragraph types such as "Latest News Feature" and "Manual News Feature" added visual appeal and editorial flexibility. These changes helped create a cohesive design language that resonated with the university's prestigious identity.
Throughout the project, our team worked closely with the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (GSE) to ensure the website updates met their goals and needs. We improved the user interface, simplified navigation, and enhanced content management tools, making it easier for the university to engage with its community. Feedback from faculty, students, and administrators highlighted the positive impact of these improvements.
