One of the exciting projects we are deeply involved in is Zight, a tool specifically crafted to make visual communication effortless and seamless across all devices. Originally known as CloudApp, Zight has evolved into a powerful cross-platform solution that enables users to capture screens, record videos, and create GIFs easily. This desktop client goes beyond simple screen capture by offering online storage and sharing capabilities, making it a key tool for business team collaboration and aiming to enhance working communication.
Zight has made a significant mark in the industry, being recognized by INC magazine in 2017 as the “Snapchat of Business” and earning the distinction of “Best Software Company” in 2018. With a user base exceeding 4 million, it continues to grow and innovate, becoming a preferred choice for businesses of all sizes. Whether users need to capture a screenshot, record a detailed video, or create a quick GIF, Zight simplifies every step of the process, streamlining communication and collaboration.

The Zight project was inspired by the limitations present in other screen-capturing tools, which often lacked the flexibility required for real-world applications. As remote work became more prevalent, it became clear that traditional tools were not always efficient in delivering fast, clear communication. Zight was designed to bridge that gap and provide a more seamless way of sharing information visually, quickly, and effectively.
The driving force behind developing Zight was the global shift towards remote work, where lengthy meetings and discussions could often be replaced by simple visual explanations. Instead of spending time on long calls, Zight allows users to provide quick visual insights, which significantly cuts down on the time required to resolve issues. This approach is more in line with the fast-paced, remote work environment that many people have embraced.

A standout feature of Zight is its ability to streamline the sharing process. Users can drag and drop large files directly over the icon in the toolbar, instantly generating a sharing link that is copied to the clipboard, even before the file finishes uploading. This means that by the time the user finishes composing an email, the file is fully uploaded, and the sharing page is ready. This significantly enhances productivity and ensures that users can work without delays, even when handling large files.

We focused on creating a solution that gives users unlimited online storage for their files, allowing them to generate personalized links for easy sharing. The storage system also includes folder creation, making it simple for users to organize and manage their files in the cloud.
We also added notifications that let users know when their files are fully uploaded and ready to share. This means you no longer need to keep checking your progress—you’ll be notified as soon as the file is ready, making it easier to attach and send without delay.

What really makes this project stand out, though, is the constant focus on innovation and improvement. The Zight team is always working to make its platform better, and we mirrored this approach in our collaboration. This led to the development and implementation of exclusive AI-powered features, designed specifically to meet the needs of Zight's users. These new features brought greater efficiency and convenience to the platform, further positioning Zight as a leader in visual communication tools.
Our company’s web development project for Zight focuses on building an AI-powered tool that makes visual communication easier and more efficient. Zight lets users record their screens, voices, and faces, giving them the option to capture the full screen or just a selected area. It also allows flexibility with different recording setups, like using the webcam only, the screen only, or a combination of both. This versatility makes it suitable for various purposes, from professional presentations and meetings to quick visual notes.
Zight’s AI capabilities help simplify tasks by automatically generating titles, summaries, and transcriptions. These features save time by handling repetitive tasks for the user, such as summarizing lengthy content or turning spoken words into text. The tool also supports translations in over 50 languages, making it easier for users to share their content with a global audience.
In addition to recording, Zight includes annotation tools that allow users to mark up their screenshots or screen recordings with text, arrows, lines, or blur effects, helping to highlight important details. Once the content is ready, users can instantly share it through a unique link. Zight also integrates smoothly with popular apps, making it easy to share files and communicate across different platforms.
This feature provides users with multiple customization options, allowing them to select how they want to capture their screen. Users can record the full screen, focus on a specific part of the screen, or even add a camera overlay to include themselves in the recording. This flexibility ensures that the GIF creation process meets a variety of user needs, whether for tutorials, presentations, or personal use.
Once the user selects their preferences, they can start the recording with a simple click of the "Start recording" button. During the recording process, a toolbar is displayed, featuring a countdown timer that starts from 60 seconds, which is the maximum duration for a GIF recording. The toolbar also includes options to annotate the recording in real-time, pause the recording if necessary, or end the session when finished. These intuitive controls make the entire process seamless and easy to manage, even for users new to GIF creation.
When the recording is complete, the GIF is automatically processed and immediately presented to the user. The processed GIF can then be saved directly to the cloud, ensuring that the content is securely stored and accessible from anywhere. Additionally, Zight makes it incredibly simple to share the GIF by providing an autogenerated link. This link can be shared across different platforms or sent to others with ease, allowing users to distribute their content quickly and efficiently.
Smart Titles. When you upload a video, Zight AI automatically generates a title that fits the content of your video, making sure it’s accurately described without any extra work on your part.
Video Summarizer. This tool creates a brief description of your video on its own, giving you a quick overview of the content and helping you understand the main points right away. This feature saves you time and provides instant context for your videos.
Auto-Transcribe with Captions. If you can’t listen to your video, this feature provides automatic captions and an easy-to-read transcription of what’s said, making the content accessible even if the audio isn’t available.
We’re also working on an exciting new feature called Smart Chapters. This tool will automatically break long videos into shorter, logically organized sections, each with its own heading. This makes it easier to navigate through lengthy content and find specific parts quickly, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
These AI-powered features are designed to make managing and sharing video content more efficient and user-friendly, improving how the users interact with the videos.
